Discover a hidden gem for pet owners at the Lost Oak Bike & Hike Trail-head in Burleson, Texas. This low-traffic 2.5-mile trail winds along Village Creek, shaded by beautiful oak and cedar trees – perfect for those looking for dog-friendly hiking. Wide trails accommodate strollers, making it pet- and family-friendly.
With multiple picnic areas offering seating among nature, this trail is ideal for a relaxing hike or a quiet afternoon out with your pup. There’s easy parking for a handful of vehicles, dense foliage for ample shade, and well-maintained paths for an enjoyable walk. While the park doesn’t have fenced dog areas or water stations, it stands out as a peaceful, pet-welcoming outdoor spot in Burleson that’s easy to explore with four-legged friends.
A lovely place to hike. The trail is well maintained and good for beginners. The views are gorgeous and the entire experience is very relaxing. It can be a little tricky to find but well worth it once you do
Absolutely in love with this place. It’s about a 2 mile walk but the trail is cleaned to where is easy to follow. They have chairs and picnic tables along the way.
As a first time goer I was very confused but don’t let that deter you. Follow the gravel path all the way in until you see the front gate to the hiking trail. There is approximately enough parking for around 5 or 6 cars at the most near their parking area. The front gate for the hiking trail was a bit confusing to me, it almost made it seem like I was trespassing. However, there’s a sign saying to close a door after you once you get through the door.
Very relaxing and not at all crowded. Trail is wide enough for a stroller or cart if you have little ones.
There are approximately three or four “picnic” areas with tables and chairs in case you want to sit down for a while or have a snack. Just keep in mind that although they have picnic areas, they do not have trash cans on site at all, so be prepared and carry a bag for your trash and be prepared to carry it with you.
The trail map and reviews make it seem very easy. However, I actually found it quite challenging to get back to my car. It’s supposed to be around 2 1/4 miles And I expected it to be a simple clear path mostly based on the distance, so I just kept walking around and I ended up doing around 3 miles since every path branches out in approximately four different ways and it’s easy to keep lapping around without noticing. So, then by the time I was 2 miles in I had to walk an additional mile to get back to my car. I have done hikes in much bigger places than this and also longer distances but this one really confused me. So, if you’re not good with direction I definitely recommend taking a picture of the map, as that would have made it so easy!
Despite that, I highly highly recommend just because of how low traffic it is, you don’t get a lot of sunlight either because of how dense the foliage is in areas, and the wide paths.
Loved the trail! Went with my 3 kids and my in laws. There were a few steep areas, but nothing we couldn’t manuver even with a jogging stroller. There is a strange loud pump near part of the trail, not sure what it is for…water…oil… Either way we did enjoy it quite a bit. Will be going back again.
Tried this 2.5 mile trail with the family and loved it! Very easy trail with lots of shade! The trail runs next to Village Creek and has lots of oak and cedar trees. Did not see very much wild life apart from birds. A couple of bridges along the trail make for fun water crossing. A couple of places along the trail where you could have a nice secluded picnic. Hidden gem of Burleson.
The only thing that detracted from the experience was the pump pad that was near part of the trail. It had some loud machinery running.
