Located in Wheeling, West Virginia, the Fitzsimmons Family Dog Park is a spacious, well-maintained dog park that is a must-visit for any local or visitor passing through the Ohio Valley. This dog park offers separate areas for large and small dogs, ensuring a safe and enjoyable experience for pups of all sizes. The park features expansive grassy space perfect for off-leash play, making it one of the best spots for dog owners looking to let their pets burn off energy.
What sets Fitzsimmons Family Dog Park apart are its thoughtful amenities: fresh water bowls and a spigot are available, as well as benches under the shade of mature trees for owners to relax. Dogs can even enjoy a dip in the accessible creek nearby. Free poop bags and waste stations help keep the park clean for everyone, and plenty of parking is available, though the road in can be narrow. Note that the park is closed for winter starting in December and reopens in the spring, so plan your visits accordingly if you’re after dog-friendly outdoor fun in Wheeling!
Great, little park for your buddies. Lots of grass and plenty of fresh water available. It’s unfortunate that the hours are restricted but there’s good reason for that.
The road into the park is a bit narrow, so be prepared to be accommodating if there’s a vehicle coming the opposite direction.
We absolutely LOVE this place! I only gave it 4 stars because they close in the wintertime. Otherwise, it is PERFECT! Both the small and large dog sides are great size with plenty of room to run. They have water bowls and a spicket and provide you with poop bags for easy clean-up. There is plenty of room to run and play. There are trees for shade and park benches for when mom & dad need a break. There is a creek that runs along the park and is easily accessible if your fur baby wants to take a dip. I 100% recommend this dog park.
Wonderful dog park. Haven’t been to many but for being out of the area this one was great. Places for humans to sit and watch their doggies play, separate enclosures for dogs 30 lbs. clean fresh water available. Pretty easy to locate too. Grass was green and full. Definitely recommend.
There are 3 locations: I only know Tunnel Green- Large open dog park with a side for the smaller dogs sectioned apart from the larger dogs. Many benches, well kept, water available for dogs. 80% of owners curb, so it’s not overrun with droppings.
What an amazing park! We were driving through to another state and stopped to let the dogs out. Park is HUGE! Well kept. Had bags and a can for poop, benches, small and large dog sides.
There was a sign that the park will be closed on Dec 9th for winterization.
